Stewardship of Town Assets

Woodstock is the steward of significant public resources, including the Herbert W. Bowen Fund — a roughly $20 million endowment held in trust for the benefit of the town and its residents. We support transparent, professional management of these assets, including clear public reporting, prudent diversification to limit concentration risk, and faithful adherence to the obligations established by the donor and by Connecticut law. Decisions about how and when these resources are to be used should be made openly, with the long-term interests of Woodstock residents at the center of the decision process. The Bowen Fund is too important to be managed quietly.
